You wanted to go on to college and major in (major interest), but if you don’t pass these finals, you’re hosed! You sit at the desk in your room, which is currently occupied with your computer and piles of papers and books.

Karkat x Reader : School Daze - Part 3

You feel your breath catch in your throat. There he is. Just inches away, glaring daggers at you.

“Look, I don’t know what the FUCK your problem is, but it better get resolved quickly!” Karkat scowls at you, baring a set of very sharp teeth. What the hell?
You look up into those foreboding black eyes. What is this guy even? You reach up out of curiosity to take a peek under his hat, lifting it slightly.
You only catch a glimpse of something orange and yellow before he grabs your wrist and pulls the cap back down. “NOW WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?! DOES PERSONAL SPACE HAVE ANY MEANING ON THIS PL- FACILITY I MEANT FACILITY. “ You wince, why does he have to be so loud? Karkat takes a step back and lets go of your wrist. “ Look. I’m sorry. I’m not used to things here and I may have lost it and did a fucking pirouette off the handle. But goddamnit seriously, stop fucking staring, ok?”

You nod and start off down the hall. You sigh. What are you going to do? For one, almost leap out of your skin when you turn your head and see Karkat walking next to you. Damn he walks quietly!

“Look, I was wondering if maybe you would let me take you to dinner tomorrow night.” Karkat turns his head to the side, hiding a red flush to his skin. You smile slightly, heart pounding in your chest. “That would be nice. Thank you.”

Karkat nods and turns, heading back down the hallway. You squeal a little once he’s out of earshot, and practically skip the rest of the way home.

-THE NEXT EVENING-
You pull your favorite outfit out of your closet and put it on, running a brush through your (h/c) hair. You look in the mirror and smile. Setting the brush down, your phone vibrates, lighting up.

I’m here what the fuck is taking you so long?
You grab a jacket and run out the door, down the hall, and open the front door. A slightly disgruntled-looking Karkat is standing there, all fancied up in a black suit with red accents. “Are finally you ready to go?” He growls. You nod and start to head out the door when a small girl in a green coat pops out, snaps a picture, and darts away.

“What was that?” you ask, turning to look at Karkat.
“Nepeta. She’s a friend of mine. Don’t worry about it.” He smiles a little. You can’t help but stare, you’ve never really seen him smile before.
“WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT STARING AT ME?!” Karkat barks, making you jump.
“Sorry! Sorry!” You laugh lightly and take his arm, and side by side you two head down the front walk. Who knows what awaits you when you get to the restaurant, and afterwards? The night is still young.
